WhatsApp weekly update: 4–8 August 2025

First, let us welcome Reverend Wilma Jakobsen back at Volmoed! For those who do not know, Wilma is a member of our leadership team and has been a major supporter of VYLTP over the last few years.

Our highlights of the week

  1. One of our young people (Tsietsi Chabane) started working this week. He sent us a very moving note about how VYLTP has impacted his life, which now allows him to move forward. Many blessings, Tsietsi! You remain part of us….
  2. Rotary Hermanus has invited us to share our work with them on 21 August. Thank you, Rotary! Last year we visited them before our USA trip and they gave us a wonderful support letter. We continue to look forward to a deeper relationship!
  3. Yesterday we hosted the “Tutu seminar” and sold 1 of our drums and shared with them information about our 10/10/10 campaign, which they aim to support. Thank you, Dr Michael Battle, for your great support!
  4. The Christian-Muslim dialogue happening over the last weekend of August is in the final stages of planning. We look forward to welcoming about 24 young people and facilitators from Cape Town.
  5. I met with someone from a Business school in Nashville this week and they hope to visit us in March 2026 with 20 of their students.

Spotlight

This coming Thursday we welcome Delene Mark from HOPE AFRICA, who will facilitate a workshop on Gender-based violence and how to work against it.

We also got several hundred meters of rope for our drums and should complete about 15 drums this week. Thanks for all your support!
