VYLTP WhatsApp weekly update 18–22 August 2025

Several new people supported and joined our 10/10/10 campaign! Six Hermanus Rotary members supported us, as well as several USA friends: Elizabeth Stong, K Karpen (both in New York City); Sarah Nash (an alumni) and Mary Lasher. A big thanks to all of you. Thank you also to Hermanus Rotary for hosting us on Thursday night and for your great donation! We look forward to hosting you at RDP soon.

Other highlights:

  1. A couple from Northern Ireland (Brian and Wendy) who wants to come back home also came to visit us and pledged to support the 10/10/10 campaign.
  2. Together with Rev. Wesley Mabuza, I addressed Seth Mokhitimi Methodist seminarians on Thursday afternoon and was able to share some of our work with them. Thank you to the Methodist Church: you are after all the ones who supported VYLTP over many years. I did not realise that one of our alumni (Siphosethu) was in the session! He was very encouraged by what he heard.
  3. For the first time this week, one of our young people (Rashieda) supplied lunch and we paid her for that. This is a great way to support our young people directly. We will now build on this.
  4. Siya had a good meeting with officials from the Department of Arts and Culture and we now have a good understanding about what to do to get support from them.

Spotlight

This week, Cleo and Masixole have an appointment for their French visa. Please keep them in prayer. Siya and I will also meet with the Avreq team in Stellenbosch to talk about the way forward with the “transgenerational wellness” project. Next weekend is also our Christian-Muslim dialogue at Volmoed and VYLTP will also have a stall at the new St Peter’s market.
