Highlights of the week
- We.sold a small drum to Yumi, who will take it to Japan with her. This will be the first time that one of our drums land in Japan. Besides South Africa, our drums are currently in the USA (almost 50), in France, UK, Switzerland, etc.
- One of our young people (Chumisa Nkwenkwezi) started at Chrysalis academy this week. This is an excellent programme in Tokai in Cape Town. We wish her well! Three new young women also joined us this week.
- The Christian-Muslim dialogue held at Volmoed last weekend went off very very well. For a detailed report and photographs, plse see https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17NG2inrTL/
- The young people also drummed and sang at the NG Kerk in Hermanus on Sunday. They have now been invited to a Pro Musica event on 25 October. If you want to see them in action and listen to the sermon I preached at the NG Kerk, please see https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mR9Z76gVqlg
- VYLTP ambassador bibs were presented to our 10/10/10 ambassadors. They wore it for the first time at the Volmoed chapel on Thursday.
- Bishop David, the Anglican bishop of Manchester, came to address the young people at Volmoed on Thursday. He encouraged us with his words and his presence.

- La Pentola restaurant, one of our great supporters in Hermanus, had a 14th year celebration on Thursday night to which we were invited. We were privileged to re-connect with Wilfred Chivell of Gansbaai, who does great work there. He hopes to visit the drum-making project soon.
- I had a good conversation with Fr Chris Schoneberger of Ha Phororo Youth programme near Hartebeespoort dam. Our two projects are very similar and we will learn from each other. They plan to visit us during our 10th anniversary in June next year.
- Last week Saturday, we sold small drums at the new Akwaaba (which means “welcome” market at the parking lot of St Peter’s Church, Hermanus. Please support this market.
