WhatsApp weekly update 15–19 September 2025

Dear friends

September and October are normally two difficult months in terms of cashflow. Thank you to those who have come forward to ease this burden, especially the Groote Kerk who ordered 20 of our drums. Please continue to support us either through Global Giving or through the 10/10/10 campaign. Easy, secure payment is also possible via PayPal.

Thank you again for your supporting the Volmoed Youth Drumming project!

This week, two 35cm drums bought by Verleah Korloske for her two nieces, went off to the USA with someone who attended a “Soul of Leadership” course at Volmoed.

We also got a new order for two drums from the owner of “Jacobs Jams”. She is a former parishioner of Hawston. Please look out for their Jams in retail stores. She is also busy marketing our drums to her circle of friends. Thank you, Christynn!

Another possible outlet for our drums is in the churches. I have asked Mbu of GBFS (Girls and Bafana Friendly Society, a group of young people in the Anglican church) to do some research about drums they use and whether they could start using drums made by local young people rather than west African drums. We need a marketing team!

Spotlight on the coming week

On Wednesday 24 September we will be at the Heritage celebrations in Hermanus and have a stall there for the whole day. We open that event at 10h00 and close it at 2pm. Have a look at the beautiful pictures taken on our Mandela Day celebrations of this year!
We will also welcome Kevin Johannson with us this week. He is discerning how best to assist us through his many projects and contacts.

The picture above was part of the Mandela Day celebrations on 18 July 2025.
