Several new people supported and joined our 10/10/10 campaign! Six Hermanus Rotary members supported us, as well as several USA friends: Elizabeth Stong, K Karpen (both in New York City); Sarah Nash (an alumni) and Mary Lasher. A big thanks to all of you. Thank you also to Hermanus Rotary for hosting us on Thursday night and for your great donation! We look forward to hosting you at RDP soon.

First, let us welcome Reverend Wilma Jakobsen back at Volmoed! For those who do not know, Wilma is a member of our leadership team and has been a major supporter of VYLTP over the last few years.

The 10/10/10 campaign is picking up speed
- How do I say thank you enough for great support and for believing in the work and vision of VYLTP? A wonderful young dominee, Bonganjalo Mbenenge from Jo’burg, pledged and paid R1000 towards the 10/10/10 campaign! Thank you so much my godson! Thank you also to several others who have given over the past month and more, especially the Gambale family and others.
- Our young people have also begun to recruit supporters in Zwelihle and Mt Pleasant, people who are willing to give R10 per month from the little that they have. We look forward to the current trickle becoming a stream and then becoming a flood. I have posted the 50 10/10/10 campaign forms to Thobeka Dodo in Durban.

Thank you again, everyone, for your love and support. On Thursday, someone who wishes to remain anonymous heard me speaking to the young people about 10/10/10 campaign and immediately pledged to give R1000 to the campaign! We are deeply grateful.
This week we also received the flight tickets for Cleo and Masixole to go to volunteer in Taizé (France) for 3 months in October. We must now apply and pay for their visas. Please pray for this process.

Browse our photos capturing 67 minutes of non-stop drumming — a heartfelt celebration of unity and spirit. Families joined in, with mothers and children drumming side by side, making it a day truly worthy of Nelson Mandela’s legacy.
Many thanks to Cathy Bruce-Wright for the beautiful photos.

The young people made us and themselves proud on Thursday when they presented about their Grahamstown/Makhanda trip in the chapel at Volmoed. This was also a way to build their confidence to do public presentations. For people whose first language is not English, they did very well!

10 Rand for 10 months
Fuelling the next 10 years of hope
(or $10 / €10 / £10)
On 16 June 2026, the Volmoed Youth Leadership Training Programme (VYLTP) marks a decade of changing lives. Over the past ten years, we’ve walked alongside young, unemployed South Africans as they rediscover hope, build confidence, and reclaim a sense of purpose.
Today, VYLTP stands as a beacon of dignity and opportunity for youth striving toward a better future. One of our proudest current initiatives is The Volmoed Drummers — a vibrant project you can explore in more detail here.
As we look ahead, we invite you to help shape the next ten years of possibility.
